Open Day Events

Our next whole school Open Morning will take place on Saturday 16th March 2024, 10am-12 noon.

However, every day is Open Day here at Saint Nicholas and we are excited to once again be able to invite prospective families to our beautiful school for on-site tours. Admissions Secretary, Mrs Julie Bradley will be delighted to organise a visit and meeting with a member of our Senior Leadership Team, and to provide further information or answer any questions you may have about the admissions process.

If you would prefer to visit remotely in the first instance, this page will give you an insight into our wonderful school, showcasing its friendly, happy and nurturing environment, as well as its beautiful grounds.

We would be very happy to book you and your family in for a ‘one to one’ meeting with a member of staff at any point in the term. This will enable you to ask any questions you may have in reference to your child, specific year group or around any aspect of the school in general. Our staff are only too happy to help you make the right choices for your child/children.

To register your interest please complete the contact form below.

Theatre

The Lady Moira Swire Theatre was opened in 2009 and is regularly used by all year groups for whole school assemblies, drama, dance and visiting productions as well as our popular annual plays, musicals and Nativities. Promoting creativity and developing confidence, music and drama are key components of the curriculum offered at Saint Nicholas.

Little Saints Pre-School

Our Pre-school welcomes children from 2.5 years of age until they start Reception. All pre-school pupils also make use of the school’s superb specialist facilities including the sports hall, theatre and the extensive grounds. The dedicated outdoor learning spaces are a real strength of our provision and we recognise the importance of these areas to enrich our children’s experiences.

Jubilee House

The Jubilee building houses the Year 3-5 classrooms, the junior ICT suite, the junior art room and links through to the sports hall and changing rooms.

We have high aspirations for all of our pupils; most of whom work beyond age related expectations and thrive on the breadth we offer across the curriculum. Our excellent Lower School staff are supported by a team of specialist teachers who deliver physical education, music, drama and French to all pupils from Reception to Year 5.

Sports Hall

Sport plays an important role within the personal development of our pupils and we are fortunate to have a number of fantastic sports facilities, including a bright and modern sports hall together with a dedicated team of PE specialists providing the opportunity for every Saint Nicholas boy and girl to reach their full sporting potential.

Our ethos is one of participation and enjoyment and we ensure that every pupil has the opportunity to participate and excel in a range of sporting activities. Regular fixtures take place with both maintained and independent schools and excellent relationships with local sports clubs ensure that we are able to stretch and challenge our most able performers.

Sports Fields

The school’s fourteen acre site provides a wonderful setting for extensive facilities which include our sports fields which allows children to participate in a number of field-based sports, including rugby, football, cricket, athletics and rounders.

Infants

Our infants block, also referred to the Margaret Jones building, houses our Reception and Key Stage 1 classrooms, the junior library, and the Head of lower school’s office.

Building on the bright start pupils have made in pre-school, we continue to place great value on learning which is fun and engaging but which also ensures challenge and a breadth of opportunity from an early age.

Our excellent lower school staff are supported by a team of specialist teachers who deliver physical education, music, drama and French to all pupils from Reception.

Infant Playground

The infants have a well-equipped play area complete with pirate ship, climbing apparatus and equipment which promotes creative, imaginative and fun learning through play. Learning and laughter are both essential parts of the school day here at Saint Nicholas.

The Old Stables

The Old Stables are soon to be undergoing a refurbishment programme and will house a private nursery for babies aged from 6 weeks old.

Adventure Playground

Our adventure playground was opened in 2018 and has been a very welcome addition to our range of outdoor facilities, and has proved very popular with the Key Stage 2 children at playtimes.

Swire Building

The Swire building houses science, computing, art, DT, history and geography.

We seek to nurture independent learners who are confident in the use of new technology and have the skills and creativity necessary to access knowledge, develop understanding and to improve their problem solving abilities.

There are exceptional talents within the school, producing work of high quality; equally there are the large numbers of children who simply love the creative subjects and the opportunities for expression that they afford.
