Pre-school Practitioner: fixed term contract February to July 2023

Saint Nicholas School is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and highly motivated practitioner to join our Little Saints team. The successful applicant will help to plan, lead and organise a varied and rich curriculum that delivers the EYFS ensuring all learners are challenged, motivated and engaged. We are seeking a highly professional candidate who is able to demonstrate excellent levels of communication with all stakeholders and articulate the attributes of the Saint Nicholas School ethos.

The role is a fixed term contract, term time only, from February to July 2023 with the opportunity to extend on an all-year round basis for the right candidate.  The successful candidate will work  8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week including tapestry allocation.  For fully qualified practitioners (level 3 and above), salary would be £22,828 pa pro rata, equivalent to £11.71 per hour.  Other salary levels available based on qualification level.  Please see job description below for full details.

IT Technical Support Apprenticeship to start January/ February 2023

Saint Nicholas School is seeking a motivated and organised IT Technical Support Apprentice to support staff and pupils with IT systems.  Reporting to the Bursar and working closing with the IT Manager, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone wishing to start their career in IT and gain CompTIA qualifications.  Subject to meeting qualifying criteria, the successful applicant will receive apprenticeship training delivered by Primary Goal, a national digital industries apprenticeship training provider working with schools and businesses focused on delivering high quality teaching and learning apprenticeship programmes.

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and take responsibility for maintaining a productive and professional working environment, be passionate about new and emerging technologies and display a “can do” attitude.  No formal experience is required but a knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite and basic networking principles are desirable but not essential.  The position requires a minimum of GCSE English and Maths grade 4 (or above).

The role is a fixed term apprenticeship (19 months including end point assessment), full-time position with 4 weeks holiday. The successful candidate will work 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday.  One day a week will be allocated to training.  The position has an hourly rate of £6.83 which equates to an annual salary of £13,318.  For the right candidate there may be opportunity to progress to the next level of apprenticeship training subject to meeting selection criteria at that stage.

Nursery Practitioners and Room Leaders for The Rocking Horse Nursery

The Rocking Horse Nursery, opening January 2023, is offering an exciting opportunity for ambitious, motivated and professional practitioners to join our friendly and experienced team.

We are currently recruiting for qualified Nursery Practitioners and Room Leaders to be a part of our charming new nursery set within the extensive grounds of St Nicholas School, Old Harlow. We are offering salaries starting from £20,903.

Training apprenticeships would be considered for unqualified candidates willing to undertake childcare qualification training.

The Rocking Horse Nursery will provide care for children from 3 months of age, 51 weeks of the year.  The setting consists of fully equipped individual rooms for each age range, a large dedicated outside space as well as the use of the beautiful school grounds and access to the petting animals on site.

The successful candidate must be able to:-

  • Distribute warm hugs as and when needed
  • Have the confidence to sing (in or out of tune) in front of a crowd
  • Whip up a mud pie in all weathers conditions
  • Drink pretend cups of tea with great enthusiasm
  • Create an inviting and stimulating environment for the children in their care
  • Be prepared to feel loved, special and to become an important person in the lives of many young children and their families.
