Deputy Head (Pastoral), required September 2022/January 2023

Saint Nicholas School is seeking a dynamic and outstanding Deputy Head (Pastoral) to further develop the pastoral life of the School, and to contribute significantly to our vibrant community. The successful candidate will be ready to play a pivotal role at this exciting time in our continuing growth and development.

The Deputy Head (Pastoral) is responsible to the Headmaster for all pastoral matters and reports directly to him, working closely to ensure that the highest standards of behaviour, learning and academic attainment prevail across the School. As the lead person for pastoral care, the Deputy Head (Pastoral) plays a key role in maintaining and extending the School’s reputation for outstanding pastoral care and behaviour. The Deputy Head (Pastoral) also works with the Headmaster to establish key strategic goals for the School.

Teacher of Geography, part-time, required September/October 2022 to cover three terms’ maternity leave

We are seeking to appoint a part-time Teacher of Geography to join our thriving Middle and Upper School to cover three terms’ maternity leave. The successful candidate will have a high level of subject knowledge to teach Geography to pupils from Year 6 through to Year 11 to incude GCSE.

Teacher of Spanish, part-time, required autumn term 2022

We are seeking an outstanding and enthusiastic Teacher of Spanish to join our ambitious, high-performing and family-friendly school where the pupils are at the heart of everything we do. The ability to teach French as well would be an advantage.

Human Resources Manager, part-time, required September 2022

Reporting to the Headmaster, the HR Manager will be responsible for all HR matters within our thriving and growing school. The HR role provides effective HR support and administration to the school community.

Our ideal candidate will bring professional expertise, compassion, objectivity and innovation to the role. They will provide specialist advice, guidance and support on a wide range of people management, recruitment and regulatory issues. Alongside, they will be key to creating a positive working environment where members of staff feel supported and valued.

They must have an excellent understanding of the importance of safeguarding and confidentiality within the scope of this role. They will have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the teaching staff and support team.

The role is part-time, three days per week, term time plus one week each side of school holidays.

Nursery Practitioners and Room Leaders for The Rocking Horse Nursery

The Rocking Horse Nursery, scheduled to open in the autumn, is offering an exciting opportunity for ambitious, motivated and professional practitioners to join our friendly and experienced team.

We are currently recruiting for qualified Nursery Practitioners and Room Leaders to be a part of our charming new nursery set within the extensive grounds of St Nicholas School, Old Harlow. We are offering salaries starting from £20,903.

The Rocking Horse Nursery will provide care for children from 3 months of age, 51 weeks of the year.  The setting consists of fully equipped individual rooms for each age range, a large dedicated outside space as well as the use of the beautiful school grounds and access to the petting animals on site.

The successful candidate must be able to:-

  • Distribute warm hugs as and when needed
  • Have the confidence to sing (in or out of tune) in front of a crowd
  • Whip up a mud pie in all weathers conditions
  • Drink pretend cups of tea with great enthusiasm
  • Create an inviting and stimulating environment for the children in their care
  • Be prepared to feel loved, special and to become an important person in the lives of many young children and their families.
