Year 6 STEM trip

Last Thursday, Year 6 pupils visited the STEM Discovery Centre in Stevenage, to complement the
work they will be doing in computer science. Whilst at the Centre, pupils visited the Exploration Zone, where they got hands-on with the exhibits, which covered the themes of space, energy (including light and sound), materials, forces and magnetism. They also visited the Inspiration Zone, where they learned how the STEM subjects link to careers and the world around us. They very much enjoyed participating in three activities during the day: Mars Attacks, Bugs Light Yeah! and Alka Splat. In particular, they enjoyed using Lego Mindstorms kits to learn how to programme a mini Mars Rover before competing in a space race.

All in all, it was certainly a very informative, useful and fun way to spend a
Thursday!
