Royal Observatory Trip

Last week, Year 5 pupils enjoyed their space-themed visit to the Royal Observatory and Planetarium as part of National Science Week. The children enjoyed a fascinating interactive ‘Space Watch’ session in which they learned about how to launch satellites into space, what makes a ‘Goldilocks Planet’, looked at photos of Mars taken by the Hubble telescope and the Mars rover, and even investigated how gravity can help water stay in a bucket when swinging it in circles!

The children also loved watching the ‘Final Frontier’ planetarium show, learning about how the solar system formed and how we may explore in the future. Perhaps we have a few budding future astronauts and astronomers in Year 5?
