The Opening of the Butterfly Garden

Friday saw the opening of our new butterfly garden. This is a garden in memory of Edie, who passed away last May, aged 12.

It is hoped that this garden will provide a place of reflection and comfort for those who have lost friends or family members. It is an area of peace, tranquility, beauty and optimism.
Throughout the year, pupils and staff have been busy making lots of beautiful mosaic butterflies and toadstools for the garden. A pergola has also been erected and flowers, climbers and bushes have been planted that will grow over time. We hope you agree this is a beautiful addition to our grounds.

Thank you to the following people who have all been instrumental in the creation of this beautiful garden: Mr and Mrs Wilson and Jacob for declaring the garden open and cutting the chain of butterflies; Mr and Mrs Hill (Zoe’s parents) for providing the perspex from which the many beautiful butterflies are made; Mr Gotyzheva (Charlize’s father) for building the beautiful pergolas; Peter Jackson for the spectacular planting, which will flourish and grow over the coming months and years; The Friends for purchasing the garden benches; Year 11 pupil Alexander, Charities Prefect, for his work in the garden and finally Mrs Cheer and Mrs Mulinder for their artistic flair and expertise and for ensuring as many pupils and staff as possible have contributed to the butterfly decorations.
