GCSE Results 2013
Special congratulation goes to Harriet Long who received an outstanding ten A* grades. Other excellent results were gained by Georgina Catchpole (2A*, 8A), Isaac Islam (2A*, 5A, 3B, 1C) and Shannon Vietch (1A*, 6A, 3B). Isaac was our first pupil to take an additional GCSE in astronomy, achieving an A grade. Matching national trends the girls continued to out-perform boys. Over one in every three examinations (38%) for the girls were graded A* or A and 93% of the girls achieved 5 or more A*-C grades including mathematics and English.
Overall last year’s Year 11 cohort achieved a 67% pass rate for 5 or more A*-C grades including both mathematics and English; national figures for 2013 are not yet available, but in 2012 the national figure was 59%. A*/A grades accounted for over 23% of all grades.
Particularly pleasing were the results for mathematics in which 90 % of all entries scored an A*-C grade compared with a national figure of 58%.
I am delighted that two of last year’s Year 10 pupils successfully completed an on-line GCSE psychology course in just one year; Imogen Wade (A*) and Katie Templeton-Knight (B). Well done also to Cameron Jones who in Year 9 gained an A* in Spanish.
Pupils in Reception class are assessed at the start and end of the year and results are compard to national and local performance. Last year our pupils made excellent progress in both reading and mathematics.
